American University of Sharjah (AUS) was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah. Sheikh Sultan articulated his vision of a distinctive institution against the backdrop of Islamic history and in the context of the aspirations and needs of contemporary society in the UAE and the Gulf region.

We offer 32 majors and 46 minors at the undergraduate level, 17 master’s degree programs and five PhD programs.

President's Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

100 percent of tuition and lab fees.(20 awards per year)

Benefits:

  • An application fee waiver.
  •  A monthly stipend for the duration of the scholarship.
  • on-campus housing.
  • Three round-trip tickets for awardees during their years of study.
  • Student medical insurance.

Eligibility :

Applicants from outside UAE . Qualifying first-time, first-year students who will enroll at AUS in the fall semester.

Criteria: 

The selection process depends heavily on academic excellence and a series of other requirements that showcase students’ achievements.

The scholarship will be renewable for students who continue to maintain the scholarship requirements.

Academic requirements:

  • British qualification: 3 A-levels & 5 GCSEs(All A grades)
  • IB Diploma: Minimum 40 points
  • American curriculum: Minimum 98% with 3 APs at grade 5 or SAT combined score of 1400 – Weighted average
  • Others: Equivalent to above requirements
  • IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 94.

Additional requirements:

Applicants to submit a portfolio to include:

  •  An essay detailing extracurricular activities, talents, social activities and anticipated contribution to AUS
  • Evidence of outstanding personal qualities and leadership abilities in schools/community
  • Evidence of scientific or literary contributions to the community
  • School honors/awards, community service and school extracurricular activities
  • Submit a 3 to 5 minute video describing why they should be considered for the scholarship
  • Two letters of recommendation.
Chancellor's Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

Full coverage of tuition and lab fees.(10 awards per year)

Benefits:

  • Application fee waiver.
  • On-campus housing.
  • Student medical insurance.

Eligibility :

Applicants in the UAE.Qualifying first-time, first-year students who will enroll at AUS in the fall semester.

Criteria: 

The selection process depends heavily on academic excellence and a series of other requirements that showcase students’ achievements.

The scholarship will be renewable for students who continue to maintain the scholarship requirements.

Academic requirements:

  • British qualification: 3 A-levels (2 As & 1B) & 5 GCSEs(All A grades)
  • IB Diploma: Minimum 38 points
  • American curriculum: Minimum 98% with 2 APs at grade 5 or SAT combined score of 1200 (Elite Diploma only)
  • National Curriculum: Elite Diploma with 98% & 2 APs at grade 5
  • Others: Equivalent to above requirements
  • IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL iBT 94

Additional requirements:

  • Submit an essay detailing extracurricular activities, talents, social activities, and anticipated contribution to AUS
  • Evidence of outstanding personal qualities and leadership abilities in schools/community
  • Evidence of scientific or literary contributions to the community
  • School honors/awards, community service and school extracurricular activities

Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

100 percent of tuition and lab fees.

Eligibility :

Currently enrolled AUS students.

The selection process is based on nominations by AUS’ colleges/school beginning in the first semester of students’ second year.

Criteria: 

At the time of this deadline, applicants must:

  • Have completed at least 45 credit hours
  • Have a CGPA of 3.9 or above
  • Be registered in a sufficient number of credit hours such that they are on course to have earned at least 60 credit hours by the end of that spring semester

Successful nominees will need to have earned 60 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or above by the end of the spring semester of their second year in order to be awarded the scholarship for the fall of their third year.

Merit Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

10% to 30% of Tuition and lab fees.

Eligibility :

Academically qualified applicants.

Criteria: 

High school average equivalent to 90 percent or above in either (1) at least two of the last three years or (2) final year of secondary education.

Merit Scholarships are automatically offered at the time of processing the admission application. A separate application is not required.

The Sharakah School Scholarships.

Scholarship amount:

45 percent remission on tuition, lab/technology fees.

Benefits:

  • On-campus housing (sharing for women and men; single and double for men only)

Eligibility :

One exceptional student is nominated by Partner” Sharakah Program School” One student from partner school is nominated or selected.

Criteria: 

Applicants must be evaluated by an established school committee, within the following guidelines:

  • demonstrated outstanding personal qualities and leadership abilities in school and the community
  • have made scientific or literary contributions to his/her local community
  • received special honors or awards for community service and school extracurricular activities
  • achieved a minimum high school average equivalent to 90 percent and above in either (1) at least two of the last three years or (2) final year of secondary education .
The AUS Active Student Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

25% tuition remission for one semester.

Eligibility :

Outstanding existing active students who demonstrate excellence in extracurricular activities and whose efforts yield exceptional results and inspire other students to become high achiever.

Criteria: 

  • Undergraduate student with a minimum of 12 credit hours in the semester that the application is submitted
  • Minimum CGPA of 2.5
  • Achievements in AUS extracurricular activities for Spring 2024 and Fall 2023 (virtual engagement included). Those who have been actively involved in interest-oriented and cultural clubs, community service volunteers, leadership groups, Student Council, academic associations and societies, and athletics and recreation are encouraged to apply.
  • Good moral character with no disciplinary action on record.
The AUS Athletic Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

25 percent tuition remission for one semester.

Eligibility :

Talented student-athletes who excel in sports, exhibit good sportsmanship and dedication and establish a record of consistent participation.

Criteria: 

  • Undergraduate student with a minimum of 12 credit hours in the semester that the application is submitted
  • Minimum CGPA of 2.5
  • Remarkable achievements and record of active participation in AUS varsity teams and beyond for Spring 2024 and Fall 2023
  • Good sportsmanship and good moral character with no disciplinary action on record.
Chancellor's List Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

10% Tuition remission including lab/technology fees.

Eligibility :

Students placed on the Chancellor’s List at the end of the spring semester.

Criteria: 

This remission is applicable to the fall semester immediately following the spring semester when the student was placed on the Chancellor’s List.

Provided that in this semester the student is enrolled as a full-time student and is receiving no more than 95 percent of student financial grant and/or scholarship from AUS and other external sponsors.

Dean's list Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

10% Tuition remission including lab/technology fees.

Eligibility :

Students placed on the Dean’s List at the end of the fall or spring semesters.

Criteria: 

This remission is applicable to the semester immediately following the semester when the student was placed on the Dean’s List.

Provided that in this semester the student is enrolled as a full-time student and is receiving no more than 95 percent of student financial grant and/or scholarship from AUS and other external sponsors.

Endowed Scholarships

Scholarship amount:

Need based .

Eligibility :

Students who receive a financial grant from AUS and fulfill the criteria for a particular need-based endowed scholarship will be considered.

Criteria: 

Students selected for an endowed scholarship will be notified by the Office of Financial Grants and Scholarships.

Endowed scholarships are awarded only in fall semesters.

Petrofac Endowment Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

Need Based.

Eligibility :

Students in Junior and Senior year in College of Engineering .

Students who have limited financial resources and who demonstrates academic excellence .

Criteria: 

These scholarships are awarded only in fall semesters.

Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship

Scholarship amount:

Covers tuition up to a maximum of 16 credit hours.

Eligibility :

Awarded to juniors and seniors, recognizes  academic excellence, leadership potential, service to community, demonstrated talent in the field of study, and participation in extracurricular and university activities.

Criteria: 

The Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship is awarded through an annual competition conducted within each college/school. It is granted for up to four consecutive semesters or until graduation requirements are complete.

Students interested in applying for the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and must be a full-time student (minimum of 12 credits). Conditions for Maintaining the Sheikh Khalifa Scholarship achieve a minimum semester GPA of 3.25 maintain a full-time student status (minimum of 12 credits) not be suspended or placed on conduct probation

 

Grants.

Financial Grants :

New Students :

After receiving Official letter of Admission , students who have limited financial resources can apply for financial grant.

Enrolled Students:

Students who have cumulative GPA of 2.0 or more and full time or registered in the Achievement Academy Bridge program can apply.

If eligible, amount of the award will depend on financial need and academic qualification. If student live on campus in a shared or double room, they may be eligible for partial assistance toward your residential hall fees.

Grants are awarded regardless of your race, color, gender, religion or national origin.

Family  Tuition Grant:

For families that have more than one daughter/son enrolled simultaneously in AUS as full-time undergraduates in a degree program, a tuition discount of 25 percent is given to each sibling after the first.

Study Tour Grant:

Students receiving a minimum of 25 percent financial grant and enrolled in a credit-bearing study tour are eligible to apply for funding that can be used to supplement tour costs.
